El Banco Mundial debate cómo impulsar la inclusión social de los afrodescendientes en Latinoamérica
Uno de cada cuatro latinoamericanos se identifica como afrodescendiente. Pero ¿qué es ser afrodescendiente en la actualidad? Son poblaciones muy diversas, desde los Garífuna en Centroamérica, hasta la mayoría de pardos en Brasil. Sin embargo, todos comparten una historia de discriminación y exclusión.
Según un nuevo estudio del Banco Mundial que analiza los datos disponibles sobre afrodescendientes en la región, luego de décadas de lucha, las organizaciones afro han logrado más reconocimiento. Pero las brechas de acceso a la educación, al trabajo y a los servicios públicos persisten.
El Banco Mundial presenta hoy el informe "Afrodescendientes en Latinoamérica: Hacia un marco de inclusión", organizado en conjunto con el gobierno de la República de Costa Rica. El evento contará con la presencia del presidente de Costa Rica, Carlos Alvarado Quesada, la vicepresidenta y canciller de Costa Rica, Epsy Campbell, y Jorge Familiar, vicepresidente del Banco Mundial para América Latina y el Caribe.
Además, estaremos analizando junto a miembros de la comunidad afro de la región, ¿cómo impulsar la inclusión social de los #AfroLatinos?
